About Oak Haven Belgians

Oak Haven Leaf & Seal

Oak Haven Belgians was established in 1992 by Dr. Michael and Kimberlee Stone. The farm originally was situated in a small northwest Ohio town about 10 miles south of Lake Erie called Oak Harbor.  In 1995 the farm was moved to its original location in Fremont Ohio.  The farm is easy to find at the corner of State Route 53 and State Route 12 which is about 8 miles south of the 80/90 Ohio Turnpike.  The large Belgian statue is hard to pass up at the entrance off of State Route 12:

Oak Haven is managed by Rod and Missy Kohler which joined the farm in 1996.  In 1996 we actively started hitting the show circuit and promoting the athletic abilities of the Belgian mare.  Oak Haven shows throughout the United States and hits most of the major draft shows in the country.  We enjoy providing a professional display of one of the most powerful and dynamic horse breeds in the world.

The farm provides a "haven" for two individuals' distinct passions:

For myself, it provides a great facility and resource to pursue my professional interest in advanced equine reproduction and the advancement of the Belgian horse.  I enjoy actively promoting the Belgian horse as we travel the show circuit and my involvement as a national director of the Belgian Draft Horse Corporation of the United States.

For Rod, it provides a great environment to work his magic in exposing the athletic abilities of the Belgian mares that find their way to Oak Haven and getting them to work as a team, unicorn, four, six and eight.  Rod has a keen natural ability on the selection, training and fitting of a show horse and the skillful attention to details.

These individual passions combine to make Oak Haven dedicated to the advancement of the Belgian horse and feel privileged to have the opportunity to make a mark in the breed's history.
